Plan on participating at the 51st Annual Fall Convocation, Academic Procession (Faculty)?
SIGNUP - CLOSED
All academic staff and senior scholars are invited to participate in the Academic Procession for Spring and Fall Convocations.
Invitations are sent by e-mail approximately one month prior to Convocation. For your own planning purposes, you can click on the link to the Convocation dates and times on this website to see the schedule.
To let us know that you will be attending
The invitation will instruct you to submit your details online. It is here that you will indicate your wish to participate in the Academic Procession and which ceremony(ies) you plan on attending. The R.S.V.P. date will be included in the invitation.
Ordering your academic attire
If you do not own your own academic attire, the University of Manitoba will rent attire on your behalf. Rental attire will be the University of Manitoba gown and hood associated with your degree. When you are registering your attendance, you will be asked if you need to rent academic attire. You can select gown only, or both gown and hood. You will select your degree from the list of degrees the U of M confers. Make your selection according to the degree you hold, not the degree of the ceremony you will be attending (for example, if you hold a Ph.D and will be attending a ceremony at which a Master of Science is being conferred, you would select Ph.D. rather than M.Sc.).
Some academics own a hood but not a gown from their alma maters. In that case, order only the gown. Gaspard does provide Ph.D. gowns that are black velvet trim on black fabric. Should you prefer a black gown, that arrangement can be made when you come to Max Bell Fieldhouse.
Where to report
Come to the Max Bell Fieldhouse and report to the curtained area for Academic Procession (the northeast end in the curtained room closest to I.G.A.C.). If you have trouble locating the area, just ask any person in the Fieldhouse who is wearing a blue robe or gold coloured Volunteer t-shirts.
We ask that you arrive approximately 1 hour prior to the ceremony for assembly.
